Position Overview
Roton Industries is looking for a Shop Technician as we grow to our team. Roton has been selling and servicing top quality marine heating systems all over BC for over forty years. We need someone to take ownership of all aspects of fulfilling heater orders, providing service and support, and ideally learning to repair and refurbish heaters.
This is a full time, permanent, salaried position. Here are your primary responsibilities:
• Assemble heater kits from inventory parts
• Fabricate electrical heater harnesses
• Manage inventory of heater parts and supplies
• Facilitate sales of spare parts
• Provide customer support to clients and our dealer network
• Trouble-shoot and repair faulty heaters

Skills and Qualifications
Above all, as the successful candidate you will have a strong work ethic, a willingness to continuously learn, and an attention to detail that includes being able to effectively multi-task.
We recognize that you probably won’t already have experience with marine heaters. That’s OK, we provide full training. But we do need someone that has demonstrated aptitude and experience with tools and mechanical/electrical systems. Here are the primary required and desired qualifications we are looking for:
• Required: minimum of 2-3 years work experience in a shop environment
• Required: demonstrated mechanical, electrical, or HVAC aptitude
• Desired: experience with diesel heating systems

You will be working as part of a team who keeps Vancouver’s finest luxury yachts looking and performing their absolute best. You will receive training on the job, have the opportunity to go to receive industry training and educational opportunities.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
As the Yacht Detailer, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the overall cleanliness and presentation of the exterior of all vessels to ensure that they look and perform their absolute best. This includes:
• cleaning/washing of all vessels including tenders and associated water sports equipment
• polishing and waxing of paint and gelcoat finishes
• preparing vessels for use looking their absolute best

In the off season, your duties will expand to include:
• basic paint and varnish prep and application
• basic repair and maintenance on some systems
• general maintenance and cleaning duties
• below the waterline maintenance items such as antifouling prep and application
• teak deck cleaning and maintenance

HERE’S WHAT YOU BRING
• You’re a perfectionist and have a meticulous eye for detail.
• You’re a self-starter with the ability to work well both independently and as a part of a team.
• Previous experience in marine and/or automotive cleaning and detailing (or similar) or as yacht crew.
• A basic understanding of cleaning, polishing and waxing products and procedures and a desire to become proficient in making luxury yachts looking sharp.

YACHT MAINTENANCE REPRESENTATIVE

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
As a Yacht Maintenance Representative, you’ll be responsible for performing general maintenance items ensure safe, reliable operation. You’re able to identify and follow general maintenance guidelines set out to ensure that all vessels look and perform their absolute best. This includes the repair and general maintenance of:
• basic fiberglass and gelcoat
• basic paint and varnish prep and application
• basic repair and preventative maintenance on some systems
• below the waterline maintenance items such as antifouling prep and application
• general maintenance and cleaning duties
• teak deck maintenance

WHAT YOU BRING
• You’re a perfectionist and have a meticulous eye for detail.
• You’re a self-starter with the ability to work well both independently and as a part of a team.
• Maybe you already have experience in vessel maintenance, marine and/or automotive cleaning and detailing or as yacht crew.
• A basic understanding of a boat and it’s systems and a desire to become proficient in the repair and maintenance of luxury yachts.
